Sara is my little helper in the garden. And sometimes, she just needs some watering herself too!
Sara was flirting with the idea back in Feb/March, but still not ready yet. She would tell us when she was going and that was definitely one of the necessary pieces to be ready, but still just flirting with the idea. I was getting excited, not at all to rush her – but because I could see that we were on the downhill slide of diapers in our household. I could see the end in sight! At long last!
I still can’t quite believe it, but it’s true! She’s only ~ 2 years 3 months old, but she’s doing it!
And when I mean doing it – I mean doing it all! Going pee and poop in the potty. Not by any means perfect, but pretty gosh darn good if you ask me! During the day at school – she had some totally normal accidents right at first (I think this is how kids actually learn it all anyways), but after a day or two – she now goes in panties all day at school, even during naps and comes home dry and in the same underwear.
Her teacher was the one that was telling us that she thought she was ready and anytime we were ready, just send her in panties and they will go for it! At first, I just couldn’t believe it! No way could a 2 yr 3mo old be “ready”. But, after a few weeks, we decided to try it. Plus, I was just not that ready for all the work of dropping everything (fast!) when your kiddo says she has to pee.
So, both the parents and the kid have to be ready, not just one or the other.
I’m glad we went for it because it is going along very nicely.
We went to a parade on Saturday morning. Wow – what fun that was! Lance has been working hard all last week, all weekend, and all this week. I had the kids all day both days this weekend and there just happen to be a parade, so I decided to brave it alone with 2 active kiddos and take them to see it!
We were all glad we went and I hope we can do that again soon! We had a great time and next time there is a parade nearby, we are there!
We found a great spot where there was shade for us light skinned folk, stairs to play on, a great view of the parade and we were set. Alex making funny faces for Sara and Sara making funny faces back!
Lollipops were one of the best!
Before the parade started, Sara was watching very closely.
But, after it started with the loud fire truck – she was always a safe distance back.
And when it got loud with drums and other things, she would be back against the wall.
Alex loved it! Especially when many of the parade participants were throwing candy. “It was like Halloween, Mom!”
And sometimes when it got a little too loud, a little too much for this pre-nap girl, she just snuggled with Mama.
Although, she did start to love when she learned that licorice was involved…
And then as the parade went on, she got a little more brave.
But, Alex was learning to spot the people throwing candy and be able to run out and get some! As you can see, there was some competition, but not much.
And then one of the floats/participants gave him a purple balloon sword! So cool!
And other balloons were being given away and Sara chose green (her favorite color) and Alex chose red (his favorite). She was looking up towards the balloon but it was a pretty sunny day. She was trying to shade her eyes from the bright lights, in the picture below. So cute!
I was asking Alex to take a picture, and finally he stopped by a tree and said that he would hug the tree and I could take a picture, OK? OK!
We were shoe shopping for Lance on Saturday and Sara and I were looking around. We spotted some Dora the Explorer light up shoes – oh my goodness! Light up shoes! Well, we decided to try them on – and there was no taking them off from that point on! HAD TO BUY THEM!
She wore them on Monday and she looked so pretty with her hair up in a pony tail and her green skirt – I just had to take a picture of her.
What happened to my little baby girl?
She’s now a fashionista with a distinct taste in shoes!
Oh – and we painted her toenails a beautiful teal green, too!
We went for the first time and the end of June and had a great time! Can’t wait to go back! We just stayed one night, but that means one and a half of swimming, which was just about right for our kids ages.
Who’s excited about going – Alex was!
And Sara, too!
Dropped the dogs off at Grandma Judy’s for the night – they had fun at their “dog party”.
On our way South – sunglasses on!
Hey – wait a second! Who stole my sunglasses????
Nap time!
Great Wolf Lodge – here we are!
We were so busy having fun at the waterpark (and I didn’t want my camera to get wet) – I didn’t even take any photos of us in the water that day.
We had fun at dinner time in Centraila – coloring away.
Wait a second – who stole my sunglasses now?
We tried out the arcade at GWL for a little while and the kids had a blast.
Slept great!
And back to the waterpark in the morning.
So cute in her swimsuit!
Great for little kids (2 yrs) and great for big kids (5+)
So sleepy when we drove home.
Even though we showered after the pool, we reeked of chlorine. Had to take 2 showers just to get that smell off us. So much fun, we will definitely be back again!
