Climbing

We went to the park last weekend and Alex saw a little boy (older than him - maybe 4 or so) that was climbing this curved ladder. I was so scared to let him try, but he was so determined. So, I stood very close and made sure his feet went where they were supposed to a few times and he was doing great! He wanted to come down it, but I said no - go down the slide. He went up about 10 times and I snapped a couple of pictures. The top picture says to me "Mama - look at me - I'm a bad a$$"

So funny

What happens when Alex learns what a bra is. At first he pointed to it and said "panties" and I said that it wasn't panties it was a bra. And then he wanted to wear it!

Learning how to pedal a bike is hard sometimes

This was just last week when it was very difficult because he SO wanted to pedal his bike. So frustrated he could just cry!

And below is this week - happily pedaling away down the street with a big smile on his face, with determined concentration and watching his feet pedal the whole way! Congratulations Alex - for learning how to pedal! (Plus, it helps when Mama and Daddy learn that it's much easier to learn how to pedal with a slight down hill.)

Last year at the beach

I had fun looking at pictures from the beach house in Oregon from last year, when Alex was just one year old. So, I thought you would too! Enjoy!

"By the self"

Alex has a new phrase... "By the self". Not, "By myself". He is in the full swing of "By the self" and wants to put on his own pants, shoes, everything! It's just such a cute phrase I had to share!

Tall boy

We went for a 2 year check up yesterday and we have a TALL boy - 95th% for height (37 inches). His weight is ~28 lbs (55th%). We talked about how we were going to the doctor's house on the way there and that the doctor was going to look at his body. She would look at his elbows, his chin, his eyes, his toes, his knees and he would giggle and point to all the parts. He did so well! His ear tubes are doing great (thank goodness!) and overall he is in good health and meeting or exceeding development areas (talking, motorskills, etc).

beach house vacation

We have returned from our week long vacation and I have uploaded the pictures, but I'm just getting around to starting this post.

We had a splendid time on the Oregon Coast this past week. We drove 6 hours south with a few stops on the way: playland at McDonalds and at a friend's house in Portland area. Overall, Alex was pretty good considering it was 6 hours being strapped into a car seat. We did bribe him at the end of the trip, the last 30 minutes, with chocolate. He loves chocolate!

Alex and Daddy posting at the Aquarium

We went to the aquarium and had a very nice time. Alex learned to give two thumbs up!

I found this big Tonka truck at an antique store and Alex absolutely loves it!

Alex found a small cave on the beach

For the first time - my fearless little boy has started to get scared of a few things. He saw a starfish and was "too scared" to touch it one day.

Grandpa got Alex just about the perfect birthday gift - some duplo legos!

Grandma Sandy made some yummy salsa and guess who had chips and salsa one night for dinner???

Although Alex was too scared to touch the starfish one day - by the next day he was ready to touch it and hold it for the picture!

Even two starfish!

It actually was nice a few days - but overall it was windy and wet. But, on this day the sun was out and Alex wore his cute sunglasses to the beach.

Although we were sad to send Rock to the "dog party" (aka dog kennel) - overall we were glad that we did. Especially considering the weather. We would've had to take him out to the beach 2-3x per day no matter the weather, whereas Bella is perfectly content sitting on laps and lounging around.

Of course, the day we left was BEAUTIFUL! Here is the sunrise that morning - yes - I was up that early! And thank goodness we went on vacation a week BEFORE I got laid off, instead of after.
