Pumpkin bread

We made pumpkin bread this past weekend and Alex was such a helper.  He cracked the eggs, poured the flour, spooned in the pumpkin, grated some fresh nutmeg, added walnuts, stirred the whole thing up and helped me put in in the pans.  Sara was such a helper, too.  She was having so much fun with a spoon!

We waited and waited (seemed like forever) for it to be done cooking in the oven, and tasted it when it was done.  It was delicious!

Seeing Salmon

This past weekend we went to see the salmon in a Bear Creek nearby our house.  We heard there were a lot – and boy, there were!  There were plenty that were dead in the creek, you could smell ‘em.  But, there were plenty that were making their way up and Alex pointed them out to me.  We found a little trail and Alex climbed down and found a ‘fishin’ pole’ and started fishin’.  We walked over a bridge and he pointed out all the fish to me. 

 

We then walked up a big hill, and as if I were trying to wear out one of my dogs, challenged him to a race up to the gate.  Of course, this was great fun and it served a dual purpose – to get out some of his physical energy.  We brought Bella along and her speediness proved to be a great motivator to him.  He said to me “Mama, Bella beat-ed me” and was sad a little bit as he has an obsession right now with being first, the leader, in everything.  But, the fun of being outside and running around quickly helped that out. 

 

 

He played on the gate for a bit and then we made our way back to the car.

Our little ballerina

I went out to get Sara some new shoes for our family pictures next weekend – and look what happened to fall into my cart.   It wasn’t my fault at all – it jumped in!  It’s so cute, too!  I was a ballerina, my Mom was a ballerina, so I just figured that Sara would look cute in pink tulle as well. 

 

She does look oh-so-cute in pink tulle.

And the new shoes, shiny black mary-janes.  Size 4 (huge for < 6 mo)!!!  I was looking for some of those soft fabric shoes that really just keep the socks up.  She’s not going to be walking anytime soon, she’s not even really sitting up yet.  But, these were the right price at the consignment store ($4) and I just couldn’t pass them up.
